“If you want your life to change, you need to change something in your life”

  • No joke Sophia! Really? We could have never guessed this without you!
  • I know, I know, don’t thank me, guys! Always good advice coming from me right?!”

Haha more seriously, we all want to change something in our lives but at the same time, most of us are freaking scared of changes ….

Can you see the problem here? We want things to change but we are scared to change them …. Why are we such a complicated species?

Although, I can understand … let’s be honest here, it’s just like super nice to stay in our comfort zone, not taking a risk and then not taking a chance of failing …. It does feel very safe.

But listen, just imagine yourself doing the thing you dream of every single day ….
How do you feel about it? Is it something that excites you? If Yes then do it! (if it’s legal of course)

Trust me, just go for it! Once you have overcome your fear you’ll see that you can do anything you want in your life. You’ll be more confident, more eager to try new things, you will be unstoppable …

Let me talk about my personal experience so you can understand better what I am saying.

Three years ago I have decided to take a break from Uni to do some internships in English speaking countries (FYI: my English level was as good as my running skills … nonexistent … so double challenge: moving to foreign countries on my own without speaking properly the language ….)

I started with London, more convenient for me in case I wanted to abort the mission and go back home quickly in case I got homesick or whatever … I did not get homesick, I loved it.

I loved my experience in London so much that I have decided to push my experiment and my limits above and beyond by moving in the USA for another internship (let me know if you want more info about it and I will write an article ;) )

I am not going to lie by telling you that it was easy. It wasn’t.
I sometimes felt lonely, I also felt not worth it because of my English level. I had a few moments when I completely locked myself down.
In those times I used to call my family. They know how to cheer me up. They always help me put my problems and my doubts into perspective. I was able to stop over-reacting. From then, instead of being like “OMG, I can’t do it, I am not good enough. I should quit right now” I became more like “Listen, Sophia, look how far you came from, how much you achieved. You are lucky to live such an awesome experience. Focus on the goods things, enjoy it to the fullest. You can do it. You are going to achieve everything you want. Step by step. Don’t rush it.

Changing your mindset is the key, think positively instead of negatively. It’s normal to doubt, to be scared… the most important thing is to not let bad thoughts stopped you from trying. I overcame my doubts and my fears. So can you!

This decision to take a year off was the best decision I have ever made at that point in my life. I might sound super cheesy but honestly, I grew up so much, I have learned so much about life, about myself. I became a young woman much more mature, much more confident and almost fearless. Now if I want to do something I just go for it because I have learned how to overcome my fear and most importantly that I have nothing to lose – I am in a learning process, everything I do is an experience who teaches me something.

When I moved to London I was a shy, not very confident young law student. I went back as a young woman ready to live life to its fullest and take on new challenges.

New challenge … this is what I have done after being post graduated from Law school

I moved to London in 24h, quit everything to start a new life there.

Honestly, I don’t think I would have done such a bold move if I haven’t challenged myself by getting out of my comfort zone a couple of years ago.

I am not telling you that you should be as drastic as me, I just want you to know that if you really want to achieve something in your life you can. No matter how scared you are, no matter what people think or say to you. No matter what you want to do, if you really want to do it you can. You just have to get out of your freaking comfort zone and go for it!

Seriously, Go for it! What do you have to lose? Nothing much right ?!

If you don’t succeed at first, it’s not going to be a failure but a lesson. You can learn from it.  

Like my parents say “better to have remorses than regrets”

What would you like to say in 10 years from now? “I wish I had done that …” or “I can’t believe I did that”?

    Waouh ! On voit que tu as pris énormément de temps à écrire cet article et à trouver les conseils qu’il faut pour t’adresser à nous . Il est vrai que quitter sa zone de confort peut faire peur , mais au fond , n’est-ce pas la peur et le goût de l’aventure qui nous donne l’envie et la force de se surpasser ? J’ai hâte de lire le second article , d’ailleurs il est pour quand ? En tout cas , vous avez tout mon soutien pour la continuité de votre blog ta sœur et toi .     Le premier article donne le ton du blog à la perfection ! Il est vrai que sortir de sa zone de confort n est pas une chose aisée mais à mon humble expérience, c est nécessaire pour pouvoir avancer dans sa vie personnelle !

    Tout d’abord bravo, Sophia et Myriam pour votre blog

    Sortir de sa zone de confort n’est pas facile pour tous car, la plupart des gens n’ose pas en sortir par peur de l’échec. Alors , la routine s’installe et cela devient une habitude …
    Pouvoir en sortir , c’est aller vers l’inconnu , avancer, apprendre à se surpasser et ressentir la joie immense d’avoir réussi.
    Sophia , tu es la preuve vivante que n’est rien n’est impossible, que tout est une question de volonté même si parfois le chemin est long et semé d’embûches.
